Rohlinger was batting .214 with one RBI in 10 games for the Giants this season.

To take his roster spot, the club recalled infielder Matt Downs from Triple-A Fresno. This will be Downs' second stint with San Francisco this year, as he hit .247 with a home run and six RBI in 26 games from April 18-May 27.
